Huckabee Sanders Reads Off Democrats’ Negative Statements About Comey

Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders lambasted congressional Democrats during Thursday’s daily White House press briefing for making what she said were “contradicting statements” regarding former FBI Director James Comey.

Sanders was responding to a question from ABC News correspondent Jonathan Karl, who suggested that Vice President Mike Pence was left “in the dark” regarding President Donald Trump’s decision to fire Comey.

“Was the vice president in the dark, too?” Karl asked.

“Nobody was in the dark, Jonathan. You want to create this false narrative. If you want to talk about contradicting statements, and people that were maybe ‘in the dark,’ how about the Democrats,” Sanders said, before reading off a list of statements from Democratic leaders criticizing Comey. One of the statements included House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.), who said, “Comey was not in the right job.”

“If you want to talk about people in the dark, our story is consistent … The people that are in the dark today are the Democrats,” Sanders said.

She claimed that Democrats changed their tune after Comey’s firing and decided to play “partisan games” rather than maintain their original stance on Comey and agree with Trump’s decision.
