While she was born into modest circumstances in Slovenia (then part of Communist Yugoslavia), Melanija Knavs, now Melania Trump, has become our beautiful and accomplished First Lady, showing grace, kindness, and steadfast support of her husband, Donald, and son, Barron, and a loyal determination to serve women and children.
Despite media attacks, most recently a Vanity Fair hit piece, which made all sorts of fanciful allegations, and its trashy recap by The Washington Post, Melania appears undeterred.
Melania had a successful twenty-five-year modeling career. Following her marriage to Donald Trump she became a citizen in 2006, the same year that she gave birth to her only son, Barron. Melania speaks five languages fluently and, although she has a modest accent, her words are filled with passion and poise. Another interesting fact about Melania is that, after Louisa Adams, who was born in England and was the wife of President Quincy Adams, Melania is the only other First Lady to have been born abroad.
While in office of First Lady less than one hundred days, Melania has already been active in causes that are dear to her. In March, she hosted a White House luncheon in support of International Women’s Day and, in April, along with Jordan’s Queen Rania she visited the Excel Academy, an all-girls charter school serving in an economically-challenged area of Washington, D.C. Indeed, supporting women and children are close to the First Lady’s heart.
