The promise that Donald Trump made during his presidential election, to “drain the swamp”, was not only intended for Washington D.C. but as it appears, the UN located in New York City, at 42nd Street and 1st Avenue needed some draining too.
The need for this “swamp” to be “drained” is not something new, it has been evident for quite some time, but maybe the Jerusalem issue was a the impetus that started this much needed process.
There is of course no one better to reveal the president’s support of Israel than the U.S. Ambassador Nikki Haley.
She took the stage in front of the emergency called assembly, made a special announcement for those members of the U.N. who chose to stand against the United States in the decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
She warned them :“This vote will make a difference on how Americans look at the U.N. And on how we look at countries who disrespect us in the U.N. And this vote will be remembered.”
Her threat was not a dramatic one, but nonetheless it was loud and clear, that the President plans to hold each and every member who would vote against his decision, accountable.
But reportedly one Muslim diplomat who requested that his identity remains anonymous has said to a Reuters reporter, “States resort to such blatant bullying only when they know they do not have a moral or legal argument to convince others.”

The UN Ambassador responded with great certainty:
Actually it is when a country is tired of being taken for granted.

Nikki Haley shared Trump’s thoughts regarding this issue on her Twitter account when she quoted him saying : “Let them vote against us, we’ll save a lot.”

She warned everybody before the vote that America was “singled out for attack” since the President honored his word and recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, in accordance with United States’ law.
Haley reportedly said to the 193-member General Assembly : “The United States will remember this day in which it was singled out for attack in the General Assembly for the very act of exercising our right as a sovereign nation.”
She also said : “We will remember it when we are called upon to once again make the world’s largest contribution to the United Nations, and so many countries come calling on us, as they so often do, to pay even more and to use our influence for their benefit.”
What do you think about this ?
Do you think that taking back the funding from countries that don’t have America’s best interest at heart is a good idea?
